Grief Support
In these days since Laurie’s death, we realize that many people have questions and find themselves confused regarding how this could happen. We, in Laurie’s family, are deeply struggling with the same questions. There are some questions that will have answers, and others that will not.

With this page, we would like to provide some resources and links that have been forwarded to us in recent days. We do not provide these as an endorsement of them, only as a potential source to help learn to cope with and heal from this great loss.

Books Addressing Suicide
Several family members, as well as others, have recommended the following books, via submissions to the website:

Grieving A Suicide: A Loved One's Search For Comfort, Answers & Hope
A book by Albert Y. Hsu

“I read this book within the first month after Laurie's death, and I couldn't recommend it more highly. Hsu presents himself very clearly, speaking from his own experiences. He also provides insights I found so valuable.”
-- Greg Boncimino, Laurie's brother

From A Healing Heart
A book by Susan White-Bowden

“This was my favorite. It reads like a journal, or a walk in the forest. There are poems and photos interspersed. In my favorite chapter, she shares humor that’s born of her pain. Laughter is a good thing. Our family discovered some very biting humor that was very funny at the time.”

My Son… My Son… A Guide To Healing After Death, Loss, Or Suicide
A book by Iris Bolton

“It walks you through someone else’s path and has strong feelings and insights. I found it very difficult emotionally to read, but it put words to many things I was going through.”

After Suicide
A book by John Hewett (Christian Care Books)

“This was the book my father embraced. It lays out the grief process and explains many things in a very matter of fact way. For us analytical types, it can be very reassuring to have information presented in a very direct manner.”

On Death And Dying
A book by Elisabeth Kübler -Ross

One of the most important psychological studies of the late twentieth century, On Death and Dying grew out of Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross's famous interdisciplinary seminar on death, life, and transition.

Resources Addressing Spiritual Issues
The tragedy of Laurie’s death has caused all of us, including her family, to take a hard look at what it is we believe about life, about death, about God, and about the meaning behind it all. The implications are staggering, and we know that such issues were running through Laurie’s mind in her last days. We have found the following resources to be helpful in exploring the larger issues:
