Just as displayed during the wake on Thursday, the amount of support from those who love Laurie was just incredible. Not only was the Willow Creek Chapel filled beyond capacity, video overflow in Room 100 was filled as well. In all, approximately 900 people were in attendance for the memorial service. Again, we as the family are astounded beyond measure. The service featured personal comments from Brian Steck, Scott Stirniman (Laurie’s fiancé), Katie Michel (Laurie’s sister), and Barb Kovacevich (Laurie’s mother). Aaron Niequist sang “Let My Words Be Few”, and Angel Barrette honored us by singing “Come To Jesus”. The impact of Laurie’s life was captured in two beautiful videos: one with her own words of encouragement from various letters and notes; the other filled with photographs taken throughout her life. Both videos can be viewed online . Jarrett and Jeanne Stevens, both of Willow Creek, led and hosted the service. The service captured the life and ministry of Laurie in an authentic, heart-felt way. We, as the family, could not have asked for a more beautiful celebration. Our thanks go out to everyone who gave of their time and energy to contribute to this wonderful memory, including special thanks to Rick Miller, for leading so well during this whole week. Video From Memorial Service The two videos that were shown during the memorial service can be viewed and enjoyed by visiting this link. Special thanks go to Mark Novelli, Kelly Dolan, and Drew Brown for their efforts in developing the videos for us this week.
